About

Run by Chichibu Railway, the boats carry about 20 passengers down 3 km sections of the Arakawa through Nagatoro's gorge, steered by boatmen with long poles through gentle rapids and past the flat Iwadatami rock shelves. Each course takes about 20 minutes, with a shuttle bus back. In January and February a kotatsu-heated boat runs instead.
