About

Wanaka's Sennichimae main shop is the benchmark for Osaka-style takoyaki: a thin, slightly crisp shell, a very soft, almost liquid batter inside and a generous chunk of octopus. You order at the window, watch the cooks flip dozens at a time, then eat at the small seating area or standing outside. Toppings range from classic sauce and mayo to salt, soy, or the 'ookini' mix of four styles in one box. The takoyaki senbei, two balls crushed between giant prawn crackers, is the snack that keeps appearing in Osaka food reels. Wanaka also sells home takoyaki kits and copper pans, and runs a takoyaki-making experience in the shop.
