About
Designed by Yasui Takeo and completed in 1933, the Gas Building is one of the best surviving pre-war office buildings in Osaka and still houses Osaka Gas. Its rounded corner, horizontal bands and two-tone black and white cladding photograph best from the opposite side of Midosuji, especially in autumn when the avenue's ginkgo trees frame it in yellow. The long-running Gasbiru Shokudo restaurant inside dates from the original opening.
