Muteppo (Osaka) 無鉄砲 大阪店
Brutally thick tonkotsu from the Kyoto legend Muteppo: a pork-bone soup so dense it coats the spoon, two minutes from Imamiya-Ebisu.
Chashu ramen: ¥1,200
About
Muteppo began in rural Kizugawa in southern Kyoto Prefecture and became a pilgrimage for fans of ultra-rich tonkotsu; this Osaka branch opened in 2005 near Imamiya-Ebisu and Daikokucho. Pork bones are boiled hard for hours into a viscous, beige soup with a deep, sweet pork flavour, served with straight noodles and chashu. Not for the faint-hearted, but a Tabelog Ramen 100 regular rated around 3.71. It is a short walk from Shinsekai and Tsutenkaku.
