Ramen & Noodles · Ura Namba
Menya Joroku 麺屋 丈六
A tiny Ura Namba counter with one of Osaka's best bowls of soy-based 'Takaida-style' chuka soba: dark, clean broth, thick straight noodles and lots of green onion. Long lines, worth it.
About
Joroku specialises in a refined take on Takaida-kei ramen, the dark shoyu style from neighbouring Higashi-Osaka. The broth is deep brown and salty-savoury without heaviness, the noodles thick and firm, the chashu tender, and a mound of green onion lifts everything. Add the house 'hayazushi' style mackerel sushi on the side for a classic Osaka combination. The shop is hidden down a narrow lane in the Sennichimae backstreets.
