About
Ukimido stands at the edge of Sagi-ike Pond in the south of Nara Park, linked to the shore by a wooden bridge. Its reflection in the water, framed by trees and wandering deer, is one of Nara's best-loved photos. The current building was rebuilt between 1991 and 1994. It is lit up on some evenings in summer and autumn.
