About
Isonokami Jingu is one of Japan's oldest shrines and was the armoury shrine of the Mononobe clan. Its worship hall is a National Treasure, and the treasured Shichishito (seven-branched sword) is linked to early contacts with the Korean peninsula. Roosters and hens wander the cedar-shaded grounds, and the shrine sits on the Yamanobe-no-michi trail.
