Renovated in 2020, the hotel spreads over wooded grounds at the foot of Higashiyama, a short walk from Nanzen-ji, Heian Shrine and the Keage Incline. Guests can use a hot-spring spa, and the separate Kasui-en wing by architect Togo Murano offers Japanese-style rooms. Non-guests can eat at the French restaurant overseen by Dominique Bouchet and the hotel's other restaurants and bars.
