Established in 1967, the Kyoto Handicraft Center is one of the largest souvenir and craft stores in the city, set in two buildings on Marutamachi near Heian Shrine. Floors hold ceramics, lacquerware, woodblock prints, kimono and yukata, swords and samurai goods, dolls and accessories, with tax-free shopping. It also runs hands-on craft workshops such as cloisonne and woodblock printing. Staff are used to international visitors.
