Kyo Hayashiya Kyoto 京はやしや 京都店
Matcha parfaits and tea from a tea merchant founded in 1753, renovated in August 2026 with a brighter room, takeaway sweets and the return of its black-tea parfait.
About
Kyo Hayashiya traces its roots to a Kanazawa tea house founded in 1753 and is known for elegant matcha parfaits, matcha zenzai and tea-based desserts. Its downtown Kyoto cafe on Takoyakushi-dori near Teramachi reopened on 1 August 2026 after a renovation that brightened the interior, removed the counter in favour of more ground-floor tables, and added takeaway rolls, fresh wagashi and drinks. It is a calmer alternative to the Gion queues, a few minutes from Nishiki Market.
