About
Kawai Shrine, an auxiliary of Shimogamo Shrine in the Tadasu-no-Mori forest, is dedicated to Tamayori-hime, a goddess of beauty. Visitors decorate mirror-shaped wooden plaques with makeup to pray for beauty, and the grounds include a replica of the hut of Kamo no Chomei, author of the Hojoki.
