About
Hozukyo Station on the JR Sagano Line sits high above the Hozu river, with its platforms partly on a bridge over the gorge. From the platform ends and the path down to the river you can frame trains bursting from the tunnels against forested cliffs, and look down on the wooden Hozugawa river boats shooting the rapids. Autumn colour from mid to late November is the highlight; spring greens are a close second.
Highlights
- Platforms suspended above the Hozu gorge
- Trains emerging from tunnels on both sides
- Hozugawa river boats passing below
- Sagano Romantic Train passes on the opposite bank
Tips
