Tsurigasaki Beach (Ichinomiya) 釣ヶ崎海岸
The Olympic surfing venue: a powerful beach break at the southern end of Kujukuri where surfing made its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, and the heart of Chibas surf town Ichinomiya.
About
Tsurigasaki Beach in Ichinomiya, at the southern end of Kujukuri-hama, hosted the first ever Olympic surfing competition in 2021 and is one of Japans best-known surf breaks, with consistent swell year round. Ichinomiya has become a surf town with boards shops, cafes and Tokyo commuters who moved for the waves. Even if you dont surf, it is fun to watch the lineup from the beach, look at the Olympic commemorative monument, and visit Tamasaki Shrine in town, whose September festival brings portable shrines down to this beach. Swimming is not allowed at the surf beach.
