About
At Shirahama on the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula, layers of tilted rock stick out of the sea in long parallel ridges. They resemble a byobu, a Japanese folding screen. Low tide exposes more of the ridges, and sunsets here are popular with photographers. It is beside the coastal road, near Nojimazaki Lighthouse.
