About

Before the airport, Sanrizuka was home to the Shimosa Imperial Stock Farm, which bred horses and livestock for the imperial household and was a celebrated cherry-blossom spot. When the land was taken for Narita Airport the farm moved to Tochigi, and this park preserves part of it, including the old guesthouse and gates. The Sanrizuka Goryo Bokujo Memorial Hall inside displays photographs, harnesses and carriages from the farm's heyday, and the park is free to enter. It is also a place to reflect on the long and bitter Sanrizuka struggle over the airport's construction that shaped the whole area.
