Mt. Yufu dominates Yufuin's skyline and is one of Oita's most popular hikes. From the trailhead, a path crosses grassland and forest to a saddle where hikers choose a peak: the east peak is suited to beginners, while the west peak involves chains and scrambling. Yufuin's hot springs make a natural end to the day.
