About

Run by the Tokyo Bureau of Waterworks, the Water Science Museum explains the journey of Tokyo's water from the forests of the Tama River headwaters to the tap. The ground floor 'Aqua Forest' sets the scene with a projection-mapped forest, the second floor has hands-on experiments with pressure, flow and fountains, and the third floor tells the story of the water supply from Edo-era wooden pipes to modern purification. The highlight is the guided tour into the basement of the connected Ariake Water Supply Station, where you see the huge pumps and pipes that supply the waterfront district. Science shows and free workshops run on weekends. It is a short walk from Tokyo Big Sight and pairs easily with an Odaiba day.
