About

Kitazawa Hachiman was established in the Bunmei era (1469-84) by the Kira family, lords of Setagaya Castle, as the guardian of the northern edge of their domain. It stands on a wooded rise above the Daizawa residential streets and enshrines Emperor Ojin and related deities. Its annual festival is held on the first weekend of September.
