About
Shirokita Park sits along the south bank of the Yodo River and has a pond, lawns and a children's play area. Its iris garden (Shirokita Shobuen) is one of the best known in Kansai, with hundreds of varieties planted in paddies and opened for a few weeks each year in the rainy season, for a fee. Outside iris season the park is quiet and local, and you can walk up onto the levee to see the river's wando, the lagoons cut off from the main channel that are home to rare fish.
