Itami's terminal has free rooftop observation decks overlooking the apron. Planes park just below, so you can watch ground crews wave departing aircraft off, a much-loved Japanese ritual, and see jets lining up with the Rokko range in the background. It's free and only a lift ride from the departure lobby.
