Touzan Bar in the basement of the Hyatt Regency Kyoto is a design-lovers bar: Takashi Sugimotos Super Potato studio created it with old Japanese house timbers, a wall of antique book boxes and dramatic low lighting. The drinks list focuses on Japanese whisky, Kyoto sake from nearby Fushimi and seasonal cocktails, and it is one of the few places in the Higashiyama area to get a well-made drink after the temples close. A daily happy hour makes early evening good value.
