Ramen & Noodles · Teramachi / Bukkoji
Menya Inoichi 麺屋猪一
Kyoto's most lauded ramen: a crystal-clear dashi broth built like a kaiseki stock, with Bib Gourmand recognition year after year. Elegant, light and completely un-greasy.
About
Inoichi turns ramen into something closer to Japanese fine dining. Its signature bowl uses a golden broth made from bonito, kombu and other fish, seasoned with soy, poured over thin noodles and topped with tender chashu and fresh greens. Adding the house fish-flake seasoning at the table deepens it further. The shop near Teramachi-Bukkoji has a small counter and runs a reservation system for part of the day. The team also has an annex (Hanare) in Shimogyo and a third branch in Uji.
Highlights
- Clear dashi-based shoyu ramen
- Long-running Michelin Bib Gourmand
- Thin noodles and premium chashu
- Table-side fish-flake seasoning
- Branches at Hanare (annex) and in Uji
Tips
- Book via the online reservation system or arrive at opening
- Try the 'kuro' (dark soy) and 'shiro' (white soy) bowls side by side if sharing
- Add the dashi tea-style rice at the end to finish the broth
- The Hanare annex is a good alternative when the main shop is full
