Capella's first Japanese hotel has 89 rooms and suites in a modern-ryokan style of wood, stone and plaster, with gardens framed rather than city views; six Onsen Suites have private hot-spring baths. It sits near Kennin-ji temple and the Kamo River. The signature restaurant SoNoMa by SingleThread, from Kyle Connaughton of California's SingleThread, is open to non-guests by reservation.
